Not

Everton 0 RS 2
Friday
The day before the
derby thoughts, hate
going, feel that we
have no chance,
Gerard needs one
goal for his hundred
gaol, Keane hasn’t
scored, Torres is in
the middle of a goal
drought. I make that
3-0.
In the 70s I use to
pray for 0-0 draws,
anything but defeat.
What do I hope for
tomorrow at the
game? TO end up with
11 Everton players
on the pitch, to
have a referee who
does not make a
controversial
decision against
Everton, not to
score an own goal,
to play with
passion.
If we lose and we
have played with
passion and
commitment I can
live with that but
not abject
surrender. Best
memory of a derby,
not the 3-0 victory
(when I went into
shock, couldn’t
believe it) but Andy
King’s goal,
listening to it on a
tinny radio in the
middle of nowhere!
Fabulous.
Saturday
Read everything I
can about the Derby
the fat Spanish
waiter states the
game is theirs for
the taking. I am
hopeful that he is
winding the Everton
players up!
Sometimes the
psychology of the
derby is the team in
the worst position
plays the best. I
hope that that will
be Everton. I hate
the fat Spanish
waiter.
Atmosphere was
great the Gladys
Street singing can’t
hear the RS really
can’t wait for the
game to start.
Everton’s team seems
to be a 4-2-3-1.
Just got make sure
they don't score
early.
Kick off and Everton
seem just to hold
their own! The RS
seem a bit quicker
and are attacking
down the flanks we
look in trouble. I'm
in the Park End big
shout for a penalty
from the Street End.
Phone rings my
brother watching on
Sky says thought it
was penalty! Foul on
the Yak. We never
get marginal
decisions. Feeling
so far is that we
are holding out. RS
are passing the ball
well and their
always seem more of
them. We look ragged
and a bit
disorganised. The
best opportunity for
us will come with a
corner or free kick.
Corner from Arteta
and the ball rolls
across the area, I
can see Cahill
swinging his foot
and I expect the net
to bulge. In
reality, it bobbles
across his foot.
Jeez that should be
1-0. My son says
we’ll pay for that
miss. Fingers
crossed we won’t.
Again the RS pour
forward, our
midfield seems lost,
we don't appear to
be able to pass or
back track. However
we are holding out
good.
The ball is in the
air Reina drops it
and Felliani shoots
and Carragher knocks
the ball away with
an open goal
beckoning. You just
know there is a bad
afternoon ahead.
With luck we would
have been 2-0 up. My
thoughts just before
half time is I would
settle for a 0-0
game.
Second half Everton
appear to be asleep,
RS pushing forward.
We lack confidence
and movement. The
ball appears always
to go to a RS
player. Feeling sick
at this point and
wishing it was full
time. The Yak
pathetically falls
over and is booked
for diving, serves
him right. At this
time I would have
brought three subs
on, we were crap and
going nowhere, it
appeared to me.
First goal classic
case of falling
asleep, ball floats
across to an
unmarked Torres
goals, cue
widespread
celebration across
Goodison, lots of RS
fan in all sections
of the ground. Worst
was to follow, did
we keep our heads?
No absolute panic in
the Everton defence
and what looked like
five reds against
four defenders
Torres scores again.
Look at the floor,
look up and see
Carragher run to the
their end. It is now
over Everton are
like headless
chickens. .
Saha comes on looks
great and nearly
scores a consolation
goal. Why the Yak
stays on is beyond
me. His mind is
elsewhere. Cahill
throws himself into
a tackle and you
know Reilly is going
to send him off. He
just loves being
centre of attention
and has a natural
red bent. Nightmare
I sit there hoping
Torres is going to
break a leg or the
earth will open up
and swallow the fat
Spanish waiter. The
whistle goes, I feel
utterly gutted. This
is just like Anfield
no pride no passion.
Did we deserve
anything not really
we were poor.
